Leicester midfielder Robbie Savage has entered talks with Birmingham City after the two clubs agreed a fee. The long haried midfielder was one of Leicester's better players last season and was a fans favourite at Filbert Street.

The two clubs agreed a fee, believed to be around £2mill and Savage has started talks at St Andrews.

Leicester manager Micky Adams admitted his dissapointment but realised he had no choice but to sell Savage following the clubs relegation from the Premier League.

"I don't want to sell Robbie and I'll be very disappointed to see him go because he is a good player. But our financial situation is well known and there is little I can do about it.

"It has been made clear that we have to cut costs and reduce the wage bill now that we have been relegated.

"So a fee has been agreed with Birmingham and Robbie is having contract talks today and it will then be up to him what he decides."

Savage's former club, Crewe, will gain a fee from any sale thanks to a sell on clause following Savage's transfer from Crewe to Leicester 5 years ago.
