Finidi George has been released and given a lucrative payoff from Ipswich Town. Ipswich have released Nigerian winger Finidi George and have given him a massive £1 million payoff.

George who signed from Mallorca for £3.1 million has been frozen out by new boss Joe Royle and has now returned to Spain.

It's a massive payoff to pay with the situation in the leagues with no money flying about, but it gets rid of that wage and now Ipswich can go forward without George on the books.
