Dean Burton has shocked Derby County by asking for a transfer away from Pride Park. Deon Burton's Derby career looks to be over when the player asked for a transfer today , with the finanicial situation at Derby manager John Gregory might have no choice but to let him go.

It's no secret that Portsmouth have been monitoring his situation and it may be that Harry Redknapp will go for the player very soon.

Burton was on loan at Fratton Park at the start of the season scoring three times in six first team games ,but a freak injury to his foot left him sidelined for two months.

A report in the local paper The Derby Evening Telegraph has stated Portsmouth offered £75,000, but really for a player of Burton's quality it seems well short of the valuation John Gregory really wants.
