Portsmouth after Middlesbrough defender

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp wants to sign Middlesbrough's veteren defender Ginaluca Festa. The 33-year-old is out of favour with 'Boro boss Steve McClaren and Redkanpp looks set to get his man.

Festa enjoyed spells with Inter Milan and Cagliari before moving to England.

A Middelsbrough spokesman told the Middlesbrough Evening Gazette that the deal was not done. "We are aware of Portsmouth's interest, though nothing has been agreed at this stage."
