Abbey Glass Division 1

Belper Meadows 211-7 v Morton 208-6 No Result

This game had reached a crucial stage when the overs ran out. Hard luck on Morton who were about to record their third win because they needed only three runs and they had four wickets in hand. Belper had set a decent target, with good knocks from Dave Hellaby (45), Carl Parkin (40) and Paul Beastall (53 not out). Best performance for Morton was by James Miller who took 6-48 and went on to score 78 in Morton's reply. He had good support from Adrian Elks (41).

Elvaston 176-8 v West Hallam 207-8. No Result

West Hallam were well served by Campbell Ogilvie (31) and Chris Rudd (40). The Elvaston innings ran out of time at the 48th over of their innings when they were well short with only two wickets left. Lee Archer continued his good form with 66, whilst Steve Attenborough was the pick of West Hallam's bowlers, taking 3-36.

Lullington Park 188-9 v Spondon 140-9 No Result

This was another game where rain played an important part. Spondon will be grateful because they were well short at the end with only one wicket standing. John Shales top scored for Lullington with 40 Dean Vickers took 5-69 for Spondon., and scored 30, but George Chapman almost pulled it off for Lullington with a good spell, taking 5-36.

Selston Town 46-2 beat Nutbrook 44 by 8 wickets

Selston played with a weakened side, but they had two very good bowlers in Duncan Green who took 7-15 and Scott Godfrey who took 3-28, and these two skittled out Nutbrook for the Division's lowest score. This defeat leaves Nutbrook at the bottom of the Division, but Selston are only one place above them, with four defeats apiece.

Shipley Hall 163-8 drew with Marehay 203-8

Once again Marehay were indebted to their overseas player Arif Mehmood. He stamped his authority on this match with a brilliant innings, scoring 149, which included nine sixes and nine fours and lasted for 123 balls. He then went on to take 4-27 as Shipley hung on for a draw.He received good support from John Longden who took 4-34. In the Marehay innings Harvinder Singh Sodhi took 3-40. For Shipley Mark Starr made 31 and Dany Brandrick was 32 not out.

Stainsby Hall 164-8 beat Staveley Welfare 118 by 46 runs

Stainsby adapted better to the damp conditions, and were well served by Jamil Qureshi (38), Andy Barlow (33) and Alan Worth (37). Then the spin attack of Barlow (3-21) and Matthew Smith (4-16) cut into the Staveley innings despite a lone fight back by Martin Camm (45). This win keeps Stainsby in contact with the top teams of this Division.

Abbey Glass Division 2

Brailsford 72 lost to Ticknall 181-8 by 109 runs

This comprehensive win keeps Ticknall at the top. They batted first, so the win gave them 27 points. Their top scorer was Rob Dumelow with 50, and for Brailsford James Dakin took 3-36 and Steven Briggs 3-29. Two bowlers were mainly responsible for Brailsford's poor response, Graham Chamberlain, who took 5-33 and Ryan Cowley who took 4-24.

Alfreton 129-4 lost to Denby 2nds 130-5 by 5 wickets

Batting second gave Denby a comfortable win and keeps them at the top of the Division, just one point behind Ticknall. Matt Linacre (49) and Dean Whitmore (33 not out) batted soundly for Alfreton, as did Steve Payne (31) and Phil Glenn (39 not out) for Denby.

Aston on Trent 147-3 beat Little Eaton 146-9 dec by 7 wickets

Little Eaton declared after 38 overs, but at that stage they had only one wicket left. Steve Muskett made 31 and Sean Brown 35, and for Aston Rafaqat Ali produced a fine spell, taking 6-36. Then Arfan Fazal (53) and Syed Faisal (68 not out) saw Aston home to a comfortable win.

Rolleston 176-6 beat Duffield 130 by 46 runs

Rolleston were well served by Paul Allen (38), Dave Bowering (53) and Chris Colley (33). Most successful of the Duffield bowlers was Dave Gadsby who took 3-52. In their reply Duffield seemed to be coasting to victory at 100-4, but when Kris Elliott was out for 58 there was a collapse and they ended well adrift. For Rolleston Alan Mellor took 5-40.

Sandiacre Town 2nds 171-8 beat Ockbrook 2nds 170 by 2 wickets

This was an even contest between two of the strongest teams in this Division and it ended in a narrow victory for Sandiacre. Paul Darlington was the mainstay of the Ockbrook innings with 71, and for Sandiacre Mike Ruhrmund took 3-44. Simon Bloor (35) was top scorer for Sandiacre and for Ockbrook Omar Gondal took 3-26.

Derbyshire Building Society Divison 3A

Swarkestone maintained their position at the top of the Division with a good win against Quarndon 2nds. .Chasing Quarndon's 178-6, which included 66 not out from Bev Sanders, 32 from Liam Chapman and 35 from Lee Gregory, they reached 180-7. Jamie Wilcox made 75 and for Quarndon Richard Smaile took 3-42.

In second place Ambergate had an easy win at Tibshelf. Andrew Layton was 52 not out in their total of 137-7. Tibshelf crumbled to the bowling of Steven Marshall who returned the remarkable figures of 7-8 and Imran Ullah who took 3-24.

Alvaston & Boulton 2nds maintained their challenge with a good win against Spondon 2nds. Spondon made 144, including 47 from Dave Harrowing. Steve Ottewell took 6-33 for A&B and Gary Smith shone in their reply of 145, scoring 65.

Darley Abbey narrowly beat Derby Congs by 10 runs. Dave Jepson made 60 for Darley Abbey and Steve Baines was 56 not out for Congs.

In the other game Rolls Royce lost to Elvaston 2nds by 7 wickets, after being skittled out for 75, Pete Watson taking 3-30. Trevor Hessey was 32 not out for Elvaston.
