LCC President's Trophy semi-final report

Liverpool Competition 116-8 Derbyshire Premier League 115 all out

After a horrendous journey up the M6 the Derbyshire side arrived late and also met rain. The effect was that there was a late start and the match was reduced to 32 overs a side.

Liverpool batted first and found conditions difficult and reached a very modest score of 116-8. Top scorer was their captain David Snelgrove with 30, and for Derbyshire the best bowling was by Simon Moore who took 4-10.

Derbyshire’s reply was fraught with difficulties, but Jamie Benstead scored 48, the innings of the match, but it wasn’t quite enough. When Michael Deane faced the last ball Derbyshire wanted three to win, they ran one but he was run out on the second run. For Liverpool Ashraf Nawab took 3-14.
