As expected, June is turning out to be a very eventful month on the transfer front. With Leeds looking at signing around 10 players, as well as offloading most of the big earners, each day is throwing up a crop of new names. Clarke Carlise will be Kevin Blackwells second signing (following Danny Pugh), when he signs on a free transfer at the end of the month from QPR. The centre back has been a transfer target for a while now, and finally Leeds have got their man. Another target is reported to be Ipswich Towns Jermaine Wright. He is another player on a free transfer, and Blackwell is a known admirer. Port Vale’s Stephen Mcphee is someone that Leeds have already bid for, but their offer of around £100,000 was rejected. However, although Mcphee would command a fee in this country, he can go abroad for free. The player is attracting interest from Portugal, and the players agent is using this to try and broker a deal with us, on the basis that £100,000 us better than nothing. If Leeds were to up their offer a little, it’s likely that the striker will be heading to Elland Road. Barry Hayles

On the departures front, Michael Duberry is close to signing for Wolves, whilst Bayern Munich have apparently entered the race to sign Mark Viduka, along with Middlesborough and Juventus. Captain Dominic Matteo is a target for Blackburn, who will have to fight off interest from Man City and Fulham. Stephen Mcphail is, according to the Sun, close to agreeing terms on a free transfer to Barnsley.
