The final game of the season sees the have’s play the have nots. One year ago, Chelsea were in almost as bad a financial mess as Leeds, with a player exodus expected in the summer. However, where Leeds had to cope with putting out more ‘for sale’ signs, offering further reductions, Chelsea were bankrolled by Roman Abrahmovic, and the rest, as they say, is history. The game is rendered virtually meaningless. Chelsea may be saying farewell to manager Ranieri, who has been treading on thin ice for most of the season, despite the Blues enjoying their best season for many a year. The home side will be looking to sign off this season in style before mounting a serious title bid next year as more of the Russians money will be spent in the summer. But what for Leeds? We could climb a couple of places in the league, which would be worth £1 million – big money in our position. Leeds fans can expect to see a few new faces in the line up, with Carson being in goal to replace the outgoing Robinson. Viduka is still missing with injury, and there is every chance that Smith and Matteo will be left out, as both are subject to transfer queries, and the board will not want to risk an injury scuppering any deal.
