Whilst Leeds were today taking a well deserved day off as many of the 'pundits' have been eating their word, there was no such luxury for potential new boy Jermaine Pennant who is putting the finishing touches to his 2 month loan deal. All being well, he is in line to make his debut at Tottenham on Saturday. It has not yet been announced whether Leeds will have an option to buy the 20 year old Pennant at the end of the loan spell, although it seems unlikely. I would expect an announcement about it from the club in the near future, and I'll bring you all the news here. So what do we know of the right winger? He was born in January 1983 in Nottingham, and was signed by Arsenal in a controversial transfer for £2 million. He had only played 2 games for County as a 15 year old before the deal, but has failed to break into the first team at Highbury. He has spent most of the last two seasons on loan at Watford. He made one start at the end of last season for the Gunners, banging in a hat trick, and is a regular for the England under 21's. He was touted as a possible swap for Harry Kewell in the Summer when the Aussie looked to be heading for Arsenal, before he ended up down at Anfield. I would love to see Pennant at Leeds, for a lot longer than 2 months. He is quick, direct and very creative, and could be a very useful aquisition. Whether or not a full purchase is an option though, remains open to debate...
