Wales midfielder Carl Robinson has signed a 2-year deal at First Division Sunderland after completing his free-transfer switch from Portsmouth The move comes after the Llandrindod-born star spent a successful loan spell at the club between March and the end of the season, where he made 9 appearances and scored just the 1 goal.

Loan spells at Rotherham and Sheffield United earlier in the season was followed by a move to the north-east, where he almost helped guide Sunderland into the Premiership only for Ian Dowie’s rejuvenated Crystal Palace side to knock them out on penalties in the play-off semi-final’s.
