Blimey Charlie! As unlikely as an Alex Ferguson smile, Coventry City re-sign the best midfielder in the Championship - Stephen Hughes! That's the `Player Of The Season Award' taken care of for the next three years then.... 9. Rumours of a signing set to shock Coventry City fans starts doing the rounds, a signing likely to split opinion 50-50. Some fans suggest little Dennis Wise could be said target, though that split is more likely to be 90-10. Other suggestions include Jeff Whitley, and, despite checking every available website, I still can't find anybody with a good word to say about the latter....

8. A delegation from the Football League are shown around the Ricoh Arena by Mike McGinnity. Unconfirmed reports suggest the following opinion was offered by those that make the decisions: "What great facilities. I think Coventry should have a team in the Football League."

7. Two of the hardest working people connected with Coventry City, Maria and Roy Fletcher, are told they are to lose their jobs after 20 years of service, when it is announced the accommodation block at the Sky Blue Lodge in Ryton is to close. The chef and assistant (Also having given 20 years loyal service to the club) are to lose their jobs too, with reports suggesting the players might have to take a packed lunch to training sessions. If ever somebody (Four bodies) connected with the club DID deserve a testimonial (Not a dig at somebody that has just had one, more at somebody who might get one) .... this really should not be allowed to happen!

6. Mickey Adams is said to be interested in Wrexham's Juan Ugarte. Juan Ugarte is said to be interested in Cardiff. Cardiff are said to be broke....

5. Oldham are said to be interested in Andy Morrell (And Juan Ugarte). Andy Morrell is said to be interested in playing as a striker for Coventry City. Andy Morrell checks the train times to Oldham....

4. Following the sale of Edwin van der Sar to Manchester United, supposed Coventry City target Mark Crossley vows to stay and fight for the No. 1 jersey at Fulham (One good game last season and he thinks he's Gordon Banks). Shaka Hislop's name is the next to be mentioned (Amongst Coventry City fans!) with the worryingly empty Coventry City No. 1 spot.

3. Peter Reid is said to be in the running for the vacant managers job at Derby County. That's 24th place in the Championship wrapped up then....

2. Graham Hover's fate is kept waiting for a while longer, due to "solicitors' timetabling difficulties." That's what you get for suggesting between 11am and 2pm - otherwise known as `liquid lunch time'....

1. Unbelievably, despite the interest of every team in Europe, Stephen Hughes signs a three year contract with Coventry City! With Duffy and McSheffrey already committed to CCFC for next season, things are looking fairly decent. Hughes' signature sees a few more of the "undecideds" call Mike McGinnity to say they would like to stay at Coventry City. Using "Caller Display" and ignoring certain players would make for a far stronger Coventry City side next season, while insisting that Isaac Osbourne and Craig Reid sign ASAP! woud also be a good idea....

More next week! (Possibly including news of the one-year loan signing of Michael Owen!! You read it here first....).
