Davenport wanted, Central Soccer Night, CCFC reserves gain a point, another OAP defender linked to CCFC, off-the-pitch incident, and more points dropped. Just another week in the life of a CCFC fan....
Newcastle are rumoured to be after Callum Davenport as a replacement for Jonathan Woodgate, while Brentford's Stephen Hunt is linked with CCFC. Details about SH seem to depend on which website you check out though! He's a defender, midfield, or attacking player, somewhere between 5'9" and 6'3" tall. Pace-wise, he's anywhere between Linford Christie and a one-legged midget with club foot. God bless the internet - it seems there's nothing you can't find out from it.....
Central Soccer Night state that they have a CCFC feature on their show. They show Peter Reid saying the stadium will be nice, show a Sunderland goal, then show all the goals from the weekend - except Brighton v CCFC (Though having seen the highlights from this weekend, this might be because the camerman didn't actually capture B&HA's goal! He got the start, the end, but not the middle....). Who says they're biased againt CCFC??
CCFC reserves drew 0-0 away at Portsmouth. Andy Morrell and Patrick Suffo were in the starting line-up, with the latter expected to start against Millwall on Saturday. Andrew Whing also impressed, though will no doubt not be involved in first team matches in the near future. As for why, who knows? Answers on a postcard....
CCFC were linked with a moved for 33-year-old Tony Sanneh - an injury prone right-back. Not quite what supporters were expecting after Peter Reid had stated he only wants to sign players that are better than we already have. There's a fairly decent right-back called Andrew Whing in reserve if you care to look, Mr. Reid....
An `incident' in Coventry town centre, involving a number of CCFC players, is reported in the Coventry Evening Telegraph. Rumours of who was involved are reported on various fan sites, but, not being sure of the legalities of naming said players, I won't bother! The link is: http://iccoventry.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100localnews/tm_objectid=14541076%26method=full%26siteid=50003%26headline=club%2dwill%2dprobe%2dpub%2dfight%2dclaim-name_page.html (I would have put the correct code in so you could click to go straight there, but last time I did this page went "missing").
CCFC again throw away a lead, this time away to Brighton, and lose two valuable points as a consequence. The result was made all the more galling when it was revealed the scorer of B&HA's equaliser mis-hit his shot, and hit a clump of grass further than the ball. Had earlier chances been taken, and Mr. Suffo not given away a ridiculous free-kick, it would have been six points from nine....
As for this Saturday: "Adrian Serioux, a 25-year-old Canadian midfielder/defender snapped up from Toronto Lynx, stole the show in Saturday's 2-0 victory against Leicester when he unleashed a long throw of freakish proportions" (From iccoventry). Great. We're bad enough when it comes to giving away and conceding from free kicks, now it seems we could be in the brown stuff from throw-ins anywhere inside our own half too....
