Thoughts on Coventry City's season (In reply to questions from the Coventry Telegraph).

Sum up the season in one line?

Yet another major let-down.
 
How did City do compared to what you expected in August?
 
I nearly always start the season filled with hope, and actually thought we had a decent looking squad (With a few gaps maybe) - a decent blend of experience and youth. I never thought it would go down to the last day ... not at the wrong end of the table anyway.
 
Best signing?
 
Samuel or Pennington. The former looked like a striker who knew where the net was, the latter looked a class act at the back, especially compared to the player he replaced. Pennington also looked as if he cared. We've little chance of getting either back next season!
 
Biggest disappointment of the season?
 
Going out of the F.A. Cup in such dismal fashion. We wouldn't expect to go to far in the competition, but a decent draw against quality opposition, and a potentially decent home crowd, or massive way following, could only help create interest in the club.
 
Best moment of the season?
 
Beating Crawley, and staying in League One. Which leaves me asking: where did it all go wrong? (And answering: selling off Highfield Road).
 
Worst moment of the season?
 
Possibly Reda Johnson's pointless sending off versus Scunthorpe. For a few minutes, we were third in the table (1-0 up, and on a seven game unbeaten run). We never quite seemed to recover after that, and the only way was down.
 
One player the club must keep?
 
James Maddison. He makes the team move forwards each time he plays, rather than sideways and/or backwards, and most of his shots are on target. I would also like to see Blair Turgott given a contract. West Ham fans were annoyed/upset he was released, so he must have something about him.
 
One player you'd like to see the back of? 
 
One? Webster. And Barton. And quite a few others.
 
How do you rate the job that Tony Mowbray did?
 
He kept us up, despite some clueless displays at the back. There is no way we would have done anything other than finish bottom of the table the way things were going under Pressley.
 
What position do City need to improve over the summer ? 
 
While fair amounts of the squad needs strengthening, it's mainly the players attitude that needs to improve. We saw in glimpses what they can do, but 'glimpses' will not bring success.
 
What would you like to see change for next season? 
 
The club have reduced season ticket prices for 2015/16. As the owners are clearly not going anywhere, and on the back of this gesture, I would like to see a one-season true called. I am aware that football is an expensive game, but (approx.) £11 a game is more than decent.
 
Where will the Sky Blues finish next season?
 
If Tony Mowbray stays, Top 6. He is a 'proper manager', who would not put up with a lot of the rubbish we saw last season. Without him, 24th.
