Well done Coventry City, you fooled me again....

Despite looking fairly clueless for most of the season, we were recently somehow within four points of the play-offs. So I started looking up the table, as well as down. 

Momentarily, I harboured thoughts that we might playagainst the truly dismal Aston Villa next season. And Leicester too. And that some of our missing fans might re-appear. 

Then Swindon turned up. As did Sky TV. But Coventry City didn't. And because of that, we were embarrassed in front of an armchair audience. 

I wonder if the players thought the 'GO' banners held up applied to them, and they were too upset to join in? Maybe not. 

Too often excuses such as 'lack of investment', or 'Pressley's hands are tied' are used for such displays. Utter garbage. As was the (I use the word loosely) performance. This was inept on a massive, unacceptable scale.  Again. 

We've seen glimpses of what the current squad are capable of, but they obviously don't want it enough. It's just a job to them. Or there's a bigger problem. We certainly can't blame the pitch anymore. 

Once again there are rumours Pressley has 'lost the dressing room'. Maybe somebody needs to tell him ours is next door now, as Wasps have taken the old one? (Apologies - that's the closest I get to humour this article). 

The decision to play a 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 system failed spectacularly (Or dismally) versus Swindon. The defence looked as if they had never met before. I hope at least one of them never plays for us again. 

Two of our current squad (Thomas and Barton) have, at one time or another, been wanted by Liverpool. With that in mind, League One should be a breeze for them. Sadly, it isn't. 

I can't help but wonder what has happened to Connor Thomas's career? I doubt he will ever score for Coventry City if he couldn't get Monday's chance over the line. 

In the last week we've extended Fleck's contractand signed Nouble and Martin permanently. On paper, that's the spine of a decent League One team, and supposedly good news. 

Add in Johnson, O'Brien, and Madine (And Pugh, if he ever stops getting injured), plus some decent youngsters, and it's not a bad side. Or shouldn't be anyway. 

The glimpses of quality we've seen from Nouble would suggest he can be an asset, though if he does do well, he will more than likely be nicked by another team this summer. 

Martin is a decent signing too. Now he just needs a decent defensive partner to go alongside him. 

If we find that player before we play Gillingham (Followed by another winnable fixture versus Yeovil), I might be able to start foolish thoughts of us finishing outside the bottom four....
