....Leon Clarke scores for Coventry City, David McGoldrick doesn’t score for Ipswich. It’s been a fairly decent weekend as far as football is concerned.

Caretaker manager Lee Carsley brought in Nathan Cameron for William Edjenguele, and Carl Dickinson for the injured Blair Adams, as Coventry City attempted to end the week from hell on a high, against the potential banana skin that was a slightly improving Bury side.

Leon Clarke took three minutes to open the scoring, making that six goals in eleven games (10 starts, one substitute appearance). Contrast and compare that with McGoldrick– who has been re-named McGoal-drought by ITFC supporters – who was once again withdrawn, which makes that substituted five times, a substitute once, and only one 90-minute appearance so far.

Elliott hit a post soon after, while captain Carl Baker (Who some believe might be a target for Mark Robins at Huddersfield) made the game safe with just under twenty minutes left, as CCFC recorded their ninth away win* of the season.

Meanwhile, a day later, Mark Robins was making his managerial debut for Huddersfield in the FA Cup, and saw his side hammered 4-1 at home by Wigan. MR’s appointment obviously captured the imagination of the town, with an attendance of just over 12,000. Massive.

Tuesday sees him make his managerial Championship debut away against Nottingham Forest (Good luck to Billy Davies’ side!), and next Saturday sees his HTFC side at home to Ipswich. Maybe he and David McGoldrick can have a conversation about the grass being greener on the other side….
