Coventry Telegraph Article 4 Season 2011/12 (Extended Remix)

I missed last Saturdays match against .... it doesn't matter, we lost again .... but I didn't miss it, at all. It really is getting more difficult to raise enough enthusiasm to go along on matchdays at the moment.

For to many of the matches I have attended, there has just been no sign of the necessary qualities needed to suggest the team is even capable of battling to save our place in the second tier of English football. 

Coventry City 2011/12 is easily the worst side I have ever seen, despite us having far worse players in previous years, and I fully expect to see the club playing non-league football before they reach the Premiership again. With very few exceptions, there seems to be little pride at amongst those wearing the Sky Blue shirt on the pitch (Mr. Keogh would be on said very short list). 

Our record of only managing to score more than one goal three times this season is a shocker, and if/when Lucas Jutkiewicz leaves, the rest of the side will probably need a map to show them where the net is - everybody except our goalkeeper. 

Just about everything to do with our club is a shambles, an absolute joke. We probably would be a laughing stock amongst our rivals, but I don't think they actually care anymore either - it's only really funny if there's effort being put in and those you're mocking are still failing. 

A new protest song has been written in a bid to get rid of SISU, but a Coventry band had already written something relevant: The Enemy, 'Had Enough'. King's 'Love And Pride' certainly no longer fits for our club. 

After last Saturday's latest bizarre talking point, I'm wondering at which point KD will give himself a squad number and name himself amongst the substitutes? (So he can possibly get a view from the pitch too). There are a fair few supporters fully expecting him to appoint himself as the next manager. 

It was four years and a day ago the club was saved from administration, with about half-an-hour to spare (I still have the pace marks on my carpet from listening to the radio). I remember hoping this would be a turning point in our history, because we nearly never had a club - typically, nothing really changed. Never has a club merely trod water for so long. 

As a suggestion to the protestors, here's a random idea, far better than boycotting the FA Cup game (Probably all we now have to look forward to this season anyway): why not fill the ground and show potential investors that there is a decent sized audience out there waiting to come back? 

At a mere £15 a ticket, that would seem like a far better Christmas present than socks, hankies, or chocolates, so why not buy a ticket for somebody? (Everybody you know!).

If you do opt to boycott (Protestors will probably claim victory when only 6-8,000 turn up but the reality is the missing fans have simply given up), don’t be too surprised when SISU use this as an excuse to sell Jutkiewicz the following Monday.
