Putting My Money Where My Mouth Is : December

As people’s thoughts turn to putting up various garish, tacky ornaments, and wondering what to buy those relatives you forget you've even got until Christmas, City are sitting pretty and I’ve got spare cash to spend on the pressies. Will City add to it during December, or will the pot run dry?

Middlesboro (H) – Won 1-0

ODDS: Boro win 5/2, Draw 12/5

MATCH RETURN: £10.00 down

CUMULATIVE RETURN: £41.23 up

MOOD: Pretty happy. This is City’s third win on the bounce, and another deserved one too. We seem to be keeping the momentum going. If it carries on it might cost me a few pennies, but it’d be worth it just to see how it feels like to have a modicum of success.

Reading (A) - Drew 0-0

ODDS: Reading win 5/6, Draw 13/5

MATCH RETURN: £1.50 up

CUMULATIVE RETURN: £42.73 up

MOOD: Absolutely ambivalent. Nothing of note to say about the game and came out of it even. Reading aren’t a bad side, and neither team deserved to win this, so onwards to the next game.

Norwich City (H) – Lost 2-1

ODDS: Norwich win 17/8, Draw 5/2

MATCH RETURN: £20.94 up

CUMULATIVE RETURN: £63.67 up

MOOD: A bit downbeat. City deservedly lost this, although weren’t helped by a harsh red card to Aron Gunnarsson. At one point it look liked City might just nick an undeserved point after King’s equaliser, but Holt stole it at the death. Got a decent enough return, again about covering a match ticket, but it’s still a bit gutting.

Cardiff City (A) – Lost 2-0

ODDS: Cardiff win 8/11, Draw 3/1

MATCH RETURN: £10.45 up

CUMULATIVE RETURN: £74.12 up

MOOD: Fairly unhappy. A second match in a row that City deservedly lost, and in truth Cardiff dominated. Not many Championship clubs can call on players of the calibre of Whittingham, Bellamy, Chopra and Keogh and it showed. The defeat was compounded by Bellamy scoring, and there’s another decent team in QPR up next…

QPR (H) – Lost 2-0

ODDS: QPR win 5/2, Draw 12/5

MATCH RETURN: £16.25 up

CUMULATIVE RETURN: £90.37 up

MOOD: Worried. Three straight losses on the bounce, admittedly against teams flying high in the division, but if that’s where we want to be then we have to pick up points somewhere against the better teams. The result may have been a bit harsh, although City gave far too much respect to QPR’s better players and played a part in our downfall.

Xmas over and another erratic month for City, but they’re still 7th so all to play for. And my profits are up to nearly £100. Thank you Santa, but can you make sure we win the next few please.…
