Bristol City Gifted Easy Victory

Hot on the heels of an absolutely garbage display by England in the rugby comes the abject surrender of Coventry City's home record for another season. There's nothing like sport to spoil an averagely average week a bit more, is there? And defeat saw us lose our place as No. 1 in the division....

Having played the majority of the season with only 50% of a 'proper' defence, the return of De Zeeuw saw said number rise to 75% .... though it looked more like four random strangers plucked from the crowd, such was the lack of cohesion between the back four/five. Maybe that internaional break wasn't such a good thing?
Bristol City weren't particularly good, but, with so many Coventry players having gone AWOL for the day (Including three players in the Actim Index top five), and the defence offering gift after gift, there was only ever going to be one result.
The home side had plenty of chances, but powder-puff finishing, the like of which hadn't been seen quite so in evidence since the days of no-necked little scrote Craig Bellamy, gave the away side a very flattering scoreline.
A very decent chance missed by the home side saw Bristol take the lead after 15 minutes, and soon after another gift should have seen them double their lead. I had predicted a sucker punch as early as the 30th minute, though it took until the 72nd minute for it to actually happen,  with a Konstantopolous error gifting them a second.
Such was the disappointment, I did something I've hardly ever done before: I left before the final whistle. Thankfully, this meant I missed a goal from Villa reject and cr*p journeyman Darren Byfield - a player so lame he doesn't even have a squad number according to (The highly respected and fairly useful*) soccerbase website.
This match also saw bookings for five Coventry players: Tabb, Doyle, Ward, Adebola, and De Zeeuw - partly helped by a mass brawl in the final minutes of this match (Which unbelievably saw nobody given a red card!).
The next ten days see us play three away fixtures against side we have poor records against: Crystal Palace, Ipswich, and the small matter of Manchester United in the cup. This is the time to show 'bouncebackability', though I'm not filed with hope.
Defend like this against Manchester United, and the cup will have a new record scoreline. But I guess it doesn't matter, as we will have at least earned a lot of money from the fixture....
Team: There wasn't much of one.
* Though they are yet to recognise the fact Coventry City are playing Manchester United in the very near future!
(In case you need it, here was the actual team: Konstantopolous, Hall (Andrews 85), De Zeeuw, Ward, Borrowdale, S. Hughes, Cairo, Doyle, Tabb (Simpson 68), Adebola, McKenzie. SNU: Davis, Turner, Marshall).
**Apologies for the lateness of this report! (And, as a consequence, the Crystal Palace report too!). A dodgy pen, followed by 'man flu' (My nose is dribbling on the keyboard as I type), means I have spent a lot of the week trying to decipher the scratch marks made on the back of a Ladbrokes betting slip!
