Former Lincoln manager Peter Jackson is about to release a book about life on and off of the pitch. "Living With Jacko" will be released in September.

Jackson was appointed Lincoln manager in October 2007 and the club only had 10 points at that point. Jackson immediately started talking about taking the club from right at the bottom to the Playoffs, and he came up with "Jackson's 5 Steps To Promotion" and the optimism at Sincil Bank was insane, although Lincoln did "only" eventually finish 15th.

It wasn't his results that people were focusing on during the latter half of the season though as it was announced that Jackson would be taking time off to receive treatment for throat cancer. Despite that he described as a "tough time" (which is understandable), he eventually recovered.

He returned in time for the 2008/9 pre-season and infamously declared his signings as the envy of League Two.

Despite a promising run of 5 wins in 6 games in the early months of the season, the club rarely got out of midtable. The hype that Peter had given during the pre-season meant that the inevitable midtable finish saw numerous fans turn against him.

With fans support quickly going and poor results at the start of the following season, Jackson was sacked in September 2009, less than a month after the season had begun.

He was then sacked less than a month into the 2009/10 season, although City had been as high as seventh a few weeks earlier. He has largely been out of football since, other than a brief spell as Bradford manager.

The book will be a mix between his life in football and his personal life. At the time of his treatment for cancer, Peter often spoke of how his wife (Alison) had kept him going and she thankfully kept all Imps fans up to date.

Glad he recovered and hope his health remains however disliked him as a manager, never anywhere near as good as he thought he was
