Bad news for trialists as Simpson closes shop

Luke Foster's chances of a permanent return to Lincoln have seemingly been dealt a permanent blow after Gary Simpson stated that is was unlikely that he will be making any more signings.

Foster, a Lincoln player from 2005 to 2007, had returned on trial and had largely impressed in his pre-season appearances, however, Simpson has now seemingly dashed Foster's hopes of joining for a second spell after pretty much saying that yesterday's signing of Ben Tomlinson will more than likely be the last of the pre-season.

This decision means that City only have a small handful of defenders to pick from next season, and whilst we are more than sufficiently covered in the attacking area, the defence is looking very thin on the ground. It was hoped that Simpson would sign at least one more defender, however, with just over two weeks to go until the season starts, that appears extremely unlikely at this stage.

It could be a way of getting Foster to lower demands. Will see.
