A second home win in row has opened up a five point gap over the relegation zone in the Blue Square Premier. A 3-0 win over Ebbsfleet was the first time that City have won by more than 2 goals since the 3-0 win over Darlington in September 2009. Goals from Platt, Russell and Nutter secured the victory.

The Imps got off to a storming start when Platt was played through one-on-one inside the first 20 seconds but his shot could only hit the legs of Preston Edwards, a world record holder for the quickest sending off in history for a goalkeeper (10 seconds).

A poor Russell free kick was claimed by Edwards before Gowling blocked a Pinney effort. Marwa was booked for tugged on Sheridan's shirt, Nutter curled the free kick out of play on the other side. Sheridan drilled a 25 yard shot wide before Hinds produced a great tackle to deny West.

It was end to end but genuine goal scoring chances were few and far between but as Platt picked up the ball and tried to shoot before it was blocked, the rebound fell to him and he tried his luck a second time, having his shot curl into the top corner of the goal and the Imps were in the lead.

On loan Farman had to be alert soon after as Pinney suddenly found himself on the 6 yard box with no-one other than the goalkeeper within 10 yards of him. Despite all the space and time in the world, Pinney could only hit the legs of Farman in what could only be described as an incredible miss to end the half.

Willock shot over from distance before Perry forced Edwards into a save at the near post. The second half was again a slow affair with the next effort not coming until just after the hour mark when substitute Enver-Marum had his shot tipped around the post by Farman.

Enver-Marum was proving a tricky player to play against as he hit the bar from distance. Power hit a shot well wide of the target before a playing a clever 75th minute ball through to Russell, the midfielder hit the ball first time to send the Imps 2-0 up and his first goal in City colours. He let a rather unusual celebration in front of the CO-OP Stand.

Platt soon played the ball over the top for Power to run onto. Power was fouled from behind by Mambo when he was about to shoot, earning the Ebbsfleet man a straight red card and an eventual goal for the Imps as Nutter scored from the resultant free kick to make it 3-0.

Neither side could hit the net again as City move 5 points clear of the drop zone.

Good win , Clean sheet , Cant ask for more , A lot harder games coming up , but a step in the right direction !!
