Lincoln City had a hatful of chances during the home game against Barrow but had to settle for a 2-1 victory in the end. Sam Smith scored his eighth of the season before Christophe got his first goal in a Lincoln shirt, Barrow did pull an undeserved goal back in added on time but it was three well earned points for the Imps.

Barrow kicked off the game but it was the Imps who were the first to press as O’Keefe forced an awkward save from Hurst. The corner came to nothing but it was a decent start for one of those Imps believed to be in the last chance saloon following disappointing performances.

Smith hit a rebound from a corner wide but it wasn’t long before the in-form striker was celebrating again. Debutant Platt played the ball through to the striker and he  stuck out a toe before Hurst could get to it and it went into the net. It was his 8^th of the season and the first from outside of the six yard box.

It wasn’t long before City were celebrating again as Hurst failed to put sufficient clearance on a Nutter cross and Christophe hit it back goalwards first time for his first goal or City. The saying with the fans is that the Imps have to score twice to stand a realistic chance of getting something from the game, so things were looking good.

The first half slowed down and only Nicolau and Perry both having chances go wide, the rest of the half was a non-event.

Quinn headed wide early on in the second half for the visitors before Smith tested Hurst from distance. Paul Smith hit an effort from range wide. Nicolau had a shot deflected behind and from that corner Perry hit the post.

It was an end to end with Farman denying Mackreth before City had shouts for a penalty when Perry went down under a Quinn challenge, only for the referee to be uninterested.

Row and Almond replaced Rutherford and Cook for the visitors before Laurent replaced Nutter for City. Smith and Platt linked up for the latter to be denied from six yards with an excellent save from Hurst.

Smith and Owen were booked after the latter reacted badly to a challenge from the Lincoln man. City had another shot for a penalty when Platt played a poor cross into the box and it was handled  by Barrow’s Smith, although the referee gave nothing, only to them blow up for a City handball less than a minute later.

O’Keefe was replaced by Gowling before Smith headed wide for City. Barrow were having plenty of possession and not doing a lot with it until the 94^th minute when a ball was headed back down by a clearly offside Barrow striker, only for the referee to ignore the offside and allow play on, Mike Pearson hit the head down to make it a nervous last few minutes for City but the Imps held on for the victory.
