If Lincoln City beat Alfreton Town in Tuesday's 4th Qualifying Round replay then they will face Carlisle United. The Imps and Alfreton will face each other for a third time in three weeks on Tuesday after Saturday's 1-1 draw and a home tie against League One Carlisle awaits the winners.

Lincoln were looking comfortable in Saturday's game at Alfreton after Sam Smith gave City an early lead. Just before half time Alfreton's Senior's play acting saw Anyon sent off for City and Alfreton equalised from the spot in a game where they had barely shown any signs of potentially getting back into the game. Neither side could find the net again and it ended 1-1.

If Lincoln do make the 1st Round then Joe Anyon will have seen out two of the three game suspension in the cup, with the only other game being at home to Barrow on Saturday.

City last played Carlisle in March 2006 when Michael Bridges proved the difference on the Tuesday night following City's famous 5-0 win over Grimsby.

Carlisle are currently on the outskirts of the League One Playoffs, so it will certainly prove to be a tough tie for either the Imps or Alfreton.

Think we have a half-decent record against them. I can't recall ever seeing us lose to them, and we played each other a lot in the 90s and early 00s. We thrashed them 6-2 in '91, and didn't we also hammer them 5-0 in the early days of Buckley's tenure?

Miserable night game. Seem to remember some ex-Leeds player turning the defender to slot home the only goal. Thanx for reminding me.
