Holdsworth : This will no longer be like a holiday camp

In his first press conference as Lincoln City manager, David Holdsworth stated that the holiday camp feel to his first training session would be a thing of the past and that hard work would be the foundation of his planned rise up the table.

Kyle Perry, Lincoln City Holdsworth became Lincoln's new manager on Monday and will take charge of his first game in Saturday's FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round game at Alfreton Town. In his first press conference at Lincoln City manager he stated that although he was impressed with the effort the players put in during the training session, he would make sure that the club would no longer have a holiday camp feel to it.

"It's not going to be a holiday camp anymore. My methods are based on determination, commitment and desire. The players are under no illusion that they will have to work hard," he told Lincolnshire Echo's Leigh Curtis. "We will be organised, we will have passion and I feel privileged to have been chosen to manage this football club."

The new manager put in no uncertain terms that he expects the effort levels to be there. "If you don't want to put the effort in then you will be looking to play your football somewhere else. If you don't want to play, don't bother putting your boots on."

The Lincoln teams in recent years have been slated for lack of effort, with many deeming the only reason we survived in League Two as long as we did was because of loanees such as Davide Somma and Chris Herd. Although he didn't criticise any players directly, he did state what he expects from the strikers.

"We need to defend from the front. I went to Aldershot vs Manchester United and Dimitar Berbatov showed the right attitude within 5 minutes by tackling on the left wing. If it's good enough for him, it's good enough for Kyle Perry (right)."

Despite initial reactions from a section of fans, this press conference should go down well with most City fans.
