Imps beat Scunthorpe to progress in Lincolnshire Cup

Lincoln City dominated a game against League One Scunthorpe United before progressing to the final of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup. Sam Smith scored City's goal before a late equaliser from Scunthorpe took it to penalties, but it was the Imps who went through to face Grimsby.

The Imps had an early scare when Dagnall was played through one on one, only for Joe Anyon to have quick reactions and it was a one-on-one that proved to be the opener as Sam Smith found himself through on goal, slotting it in despite the goalkeeper getting a hand to it.

Lincoln wasting several chances throughout the game against a very poor Scunthorpe side, but the inability to take chances is a familiar tale at Sincil Bank and it happened again as Scunthorpe equalised in the final minute.

The match went straight to penalties, Scunthorpe missed their opening penalty but the rest were scored, meaning that Alan Power's penalty put the Imps through to the final.

Nathan, what did I suggest the attendance was?

1,800? And you said, no chance, there's only 1,300 here!

A good day out, mind, and good to have a chat.

I was right though, it wasn't 1,800.

I thought our following today was excellent, having around six times as many fans as the home team, how often can a team say that?

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

Nope, the tie was drawn with Scunthorpe as the home team.....so despite it being at Sincil Bank, as far as the competition is concerned we were the away team.

Good Luck, Mr Gorsky

My 6-year old was caught short on his tour of the stadium this morning. Does this mean he had a pee in the away changing room and not the home one?

Hi Nathan

I didn't realise that.

I thought at the time of posting it would have been unusual for you to have made that mistake, but I thought I would post just incase

Cheers
