Nicky Nicolau was part of the 2004/5 Playoff winning Southend side, beating Lincoln City in the final. He went on to play for Swindon, Hereford, Barnet, Dover and Borehamwood before requesting a trial with Steve Tilson during the summer. He has become the second former Southend player to rejoin Tilson at Sincil Bank, the first being Scott Spencer last season, Nicolau will certainly be hoping for a better time than his counterpart.
Joining him on Thursday morning was former loanee, Josh Gowling. Gowling spent six games at Sincil Bank in October/November of last season and was one of Tilson's first signings as Lincoln's manager. He returned to Gillingham and helped propel that Gills up the league. They missed out on the Playoffs on the final day and he was released, along with John Nutter and Tony Sinclair, who have now both signed up to Lincoln as well.
Both will more than likely play their first game as permanent Lincoln players at Ilkeston on Saturday.
