Controversial ex-Imp Kevin Ellison has joined Morecame following his release from Rotherham. Ellison spent time on loan at Lincoln City in 2003/4 and became highly popular amongst the fans, that was before his reaction to scoring against the Imps the following season.

Ellison had been released from Rotherham at the end of the season and several Imps fans on various message boards had hoped he would join us, but that is not the case and he has now signed for Morecambe. Much like a lot of Keith Alexander's signings, Ellison was rotting in Stockport's reserve sides when the Imps effectively rescued his career.

He went on to have an excellent loan spell at City before returning with Chester in September the following season and scoring, only for his reaction to gloat about scoring in front of Lincoln's CO-OP stand brought anger from City fans, especially as it was thought that Ellison had loved being at the club on loan and had been given no abuse from City fans before hand. He soon left Chester and would play for Hull, Tranmere, Chester again and Rotherham before now settling at Morecambe under new manager Jim Bentley.

After a difficult season, Morecambe and Sammy McIlroy parted company, leaving Bentley in charge and he could not hide his delight at getting Ellison.

"Kevin is a left sided player who I have had some great battles with over the years and he is a player I have long admired," Bentley told Morecambe's official website.
