Another Blue Square rival's manager leaves

After Braintree's Ron Stringer left the club earlier in the week, Mansfield Town's Duncan Russell has been told that he will not be receiving another contract. Russell had been in charge at Mansfield since December and despite making the FA Trophy Final, their promotion push fell away quite rapidly.

Mansfield were relegated to the Blue Square Premier in 2008 and have since recorded three midtable finishes since. They had challenged for promotion at point during the 2010/11 season but they quickly fell away after Duncan Russell took over and despite reaching the FA Trophy Final, the manager has been let go.

Speaking to the Nottingham Evening Post, chairman John Radford said ""We thank him (Russell) for his efforts, and the memories he has given us from this year's run in the FA Trophy. Unfortunately, league results have not been good enough and I feel we must make a fresh start ahead of next season to give us every opportunity of gaining promotion."

Russell's assistant, Paul Hall, has been placed in temporary charge at Field Mill, as the club begins its search for a new manager.
