Former Imp and Orient man Patulea joins Hereford

Former Lincoln City and Leyton Orient striker Adrian Patulea has signed for League Two rivals Hereford United. The striker has been out of football since having his contract mutually terminated at Orient in January.

Patulea initially joined City on trial in 2008 and set about securing one of the most usually won contracts in Sincil Bank history. Patulea's wife being on his back in a training session, inaccuracies about whether he had a club or not and brilliant performances in the pre-season all eventually saw him join City from Petrolul in Romania. Scoring on his debut, Patulea went on to become a cult hero before leaving at the end of the 2008/9 season following a huge public argument with then-manager Peter Jackson.

He joined Orient but never settled in and has now signed for Hereford United after an impressive trial. He has signed on a deal towards the end of the season and Hereford's penultimate home game of the season is against Bradford City, currently managed by Peter Jackson, it would be an interesting reunion if Jackson is still in charge at that point.
