Steve Tilson was pleased with the effort against table topping Chesterfield but was understandable disappointed with defeat. It is the second time in eleven days City have lost at home to an automatic promotion chasing side and effectively kills off any hopes of a potential place in the Playoffs.

After a run of five wins in a row, City have now won just one of the last four and the talk amongst some fans about a potential late run for the Playoffs has died off. The last eleven days have shown City don't really have what it takes to beat the best in the division yet.

The result came because of goals from Davies and Holden, although the Davies goal was one of the main talking points. It came as a result of Carson struggling to deal with a suicidal backpass from Julian Kelly and Davies nipping in and then scoring from six yards out.

"The result was disappointing but the players gave everything," Tilson told the press. "Carson will be disappointed with the way he conceded the first goal but it shows the character of the lad. He's a great lad and nothing fazes him. He made a mistake and just got on with it. He will be a top goalkeeper but for the moment I'm just pleased that he's here and doing a fantastic job for us. The first goal wasn't one of those things that normally happens and the second was a free header in our box."

Carson had made several top class saves to save City from another Sincil Bank thrashing and it kept City in the game for the most part, and Tilson was pleased with the effort of his side.

"Apart from that I thought we competed really well today and fair play to the lads, they've dug in and had a go so I'm disappointed with the result but they gave it everything."

City now have a week until their next game, facing a Tuesday night off for the first time since January 18th.

Every manager we've had over the past 20 years has stated that we have to make Sincil Bank a fortress, without looking at stastistics I would think Beck and Keith were the only one's who achieved it.
We seem to get into the habit of thinking that the top teams are too much for us, but the top teams keep getting beat by teams with a lot less quality players than we have.
Even the 2 wins we've had lately, we haven't been in control of the game for long periods.
How many times do you hear fans say we only play well when we play the top sides, we seem to have an inferiority complex against sides higher in the league than us at home.
I agreed with Tilson that we worked hard with lots of energy, but the players never seemed to show the skill that we know they have.
