A former Lincoln City striker reached his 30th goal of the season for his new side at the weekend. It wasn't Davide Somma, Jamie Forrester, Adrian Patulea, Mark Stallard or Simon Yeo, all recognised goalscorers for the Imps, it was Darren Dykes.
Darren Dykes joined the Imps on loan in the 2002/3 season from Swindon Town but failed to make an impact in his three games. He didn't make an impact at Swindon either and following his released at the end of the 2002/3 season, he travleled the non-League, specifically around the West Midlands area. Other than two spells with Buckingham Town, he has been with Stotfold, Stony Stratford, Rugby (twice), Halesowen and now Newport Pagnall, all of which came with a failed trial with Maltese side Marsaxlokk.
The return to Newport Pagnall of the Hereward Teamwear United Counties League Premier Division hit a hatrick at the weekend as his side beat Holbeach United 5-1, it took him up to the 30 goal mark, a figure that no-one in the top six tiers of has equalled so far this season.
