Tilson pleased with win over Port Vale

Lincoln City manager Steve Tilson was understandably pleased with the 1-0 win over Port Vale. Ashley Grimes' late goal secured the win for the Imps in a game that where chances were few and far between

The Imps moved up to 19th after the 1-0 win over Port Vale. It was the third row in a win since the Imps moved to the bottom of League Two following a 2-1 home defeat to Wycombe two weeks ago, and now City fans are looking up rather than down. Some fans are even mentioning the Playoffs, however, for more than 85 minutes the game looked like it was going to end 0-0. 

"It wasn't a great spectacle because Port Vale made it difficult for us," Tilson told BBC Radio Lincoln. "That was probably the worst game I've seen for a long time. They set their stall out and played very defensively. But it was all about the three points. Once they changed formation the game opened up a bit and it probably suited us."

The game wasn't helped by the referee constantly blowing, but the Imps did eventually win when Howell fed in Grimes, the striker smashing home from the angle and Tilson was again delighted "The goal from Ashley Grimes was good enough to win any game. It was a fantastic finish."

The Imps travel to Bradford on Tuesday evening.
