Lincoln City may still be bottom of the table but a 4-3 win at Stockport has moved the Imps back into the pack. An Ashley Grimes hatrick proved the ultimate difference as the Imps scored four in a game for the first time in over two years.

City started quite well with Carayol providing a cross that only just avoided the feet of Ashley Grimes. Poor passing from the hosts gave Delroy Facey a good chance on goal, only to shot well wide from distance. Carson claimed a low effort from Poole for his first touch as a Lincoln player and his second saw him clear the ball up to Grimes, the loan striker hit a first time shot to lob Matt Glennon from 25 yards. It was the perfect start for an Imps side who had been on 19 points since November 20th before kick off.

Stockport almost responded immediately but Carson was quicly out to smother the ball at the feet of Poole. Demontagnac fired well wide of the target before Carayol was injured, eventually being forced off injured and being replaced by Scott Kerr. Kerr was penalised for a push on Poole and Carson's parry from the resulting free kick fell straight to Griffin and his effort from a very narrow angle went straight into the net.

O'Keefe and Demontagnac were both booked in quick succession before the Imps got a massive let off as Anthony Elding failed to get his free header on target from just a few years out. Grimes was denied by Glennon at close range before being booked a few minutes later for alledged diving, something that had bought joy to the Stockport fans given that he had celebrating the goal right in front of them.

With the game heading towards half time Kelly swung the ball into the box and Hone headed it into the path of Watts, who unleashed an unstoppable shot past Glennon for his first ever goal for the Imps. The referee blew for half time straight from the restart.

McCallum hit over just after half time before Tansey went down injured for a few minutes for the hosts. Grieve headed straight into the arms of Carson but it didn't take long for the game's fourth goal. O'Keefe played a brilliant through ball to McCallum, he squared the ball to Grimes and he had an open net to tap into. However, the two goal advantage didn't last long as Poole dipped in front of Howell to blast home from close range.

Tom Fisher came on for Vincent for the hosts but it wasn't long until it wsa 4-2 to the Imps has Facey played it through to Howell, his shot was blocked by Glennon but the rebound fell straight to Grimes and he did the rest, becoming the first Imp to hit a hatrick since Jamie Forrester hit three in a 7-1 win over Rochdale in October 2006.

It was brilliant end to end stuff and the seventh goal of the game came through a deflection as Demontagnac received the ball before his shot went in off of Watts to take it beyond Carson and into the City net, making it 4-3. Fisher headed wide from six yards out but the chances of the game suddenly died out and only a late disallowed goal from Facey proved to be note worthy for the rest of the game.

City remain 24th but are not level with Hereford, only bottom on goals scored.
