In one of the first true six-pointers for the Imps this season, Stockport County's caretaker manager Peter Ward has stated that he always knows exactly how big the game is. Stockport have an awful home record and the worst goal difference in the divison by quite a distance.

Lincoln are bottom of the table and are five points behind their hosts going into Saturday's big six-pointer. Regardless of Saturday's result, the Imps will end the weekend in the relegation zone but a victory would bring City back into the pack ahead of a mass collection of games, however, it's just as big for Stockport.

It’s a huge game, especially after the result against Hereford," Ward to the Manchester Evening News. "I wouldn’t say it’s just as big as the Carlisle game because there was a lot riding on that. We’re not there just yet but it’s still a massive game."

It's arguably one of Stockport's biggest games since the end of the 2005/6 season when Carlisle visited Edgeley Park and the Hatters could have easily gone down and although the 0-0 draw they got would have saved them, Oxford's 3-2 home defeat to Leyton Orient meant that the result at Edgeley Park was irrelevant

"We’ve got to put in a performance to get the fans behind us," Ward continued. "We can’t just expect them to turn up and cheer us on, we’ve got to give them a reason to."

Stockport are currently 21st in League but they have by far the worst goal difference in the division and you'd have to go back to November 13th to find a clean sheet for the Hatters. Their season so far has seen four 5-0 defeats in all competitions and a 5-1 home defeat to Gillingham two weeks ago. Their last five games have seen them see a whopping 17 goals fly into their net.
