Imps and Hatters play out atrocious draw

Steve Tilson's first game as Lincoln City manager saw an atrocious 0-0 draw at Sincil Bank. Ben Hutchinson wasted the only decent chance of the game after he was played through one-on-one on what was an otherwise forgetable game between two very poor sides.

The game started slowly with it taking five minutes for either side to produce a meaningfull attack. It came as Broughton and Jarrett linked up before the latter crossed for Carayol, only to see it cleared for a corner. With not having scored from a corner since last November, it would become a frustrating afternoon from the corner quadrant and a poor Jarrett delivery set the tone for the day.

It didn't take long after that for Ben Hutchinson to be set free. He surprisingly didn't moan that it wasn't played directly to his feet and even produced a rare shot, only to see it easily palmed away by Glennon. Robbie Williams blasted a free kick well wide of the target. Jake Simpson shot wide before a long stoppage as Danny Swailes fell awkwarded, eventually leaving the pitch on a stretcher and had to be replaced by Jordan Rose.

Watts headed over the bar for the Imps to end a very dull half of football.

The second half wasn't that much different and it took nearly ten minutes for the first chance as Anthony Pulis, a former City loanee, blasted well over folowing a corner. City took the ball down the other end and came close to an opener as Carayol play in Hutchinson, he crossed it in for Broughton but the shot-shy striker couldn't connect with the ball and the chance was gone.

Yet more poor corners by City either went to far, to the first defender or straight into the goalkeeper's hands. Stockport weren't creating anything either as the game was a midfield battle and the introductions of O'Keefe and McCallum for City, replacing Kerr and Jarrett, did little to improve things.

Pulis had an effort on target saved by Anyon but neither side could force an opener in one of the worst games seen at Sincil Bank in a long time.
