Hessenthaler not taking Imps lightly

Gillingham's Andy Hessenthaler has revealed he is not taking Lincoln lightly when the Imps visit Priestfield on Saturday. City are bottom of the table and are already out of the Carling Cup, but Hessenthaler said that despite that position, he still knows the threat Lincoln can carry.

Hessenthaler was recently reappointed Gillingham manager after initially leaving in the 2004/5 season. His start has been far from perfect with two draws from games against Cheltenham and Hereford, however, that means they are two points above a Lincoln side whom have lost to both Rotherham and Torquay.

It's not been the best start for either side and both sides need the win for differing reasons. A win would for the Imps would guarantee they would move off of the bottom of the table, a win for Gillingham could push them into the Playoff place.

"League tables mean nothing at this stage of the season, you don't start looking at your position until 10 games into the season," Hessenthaler told Gillingham's official website. "Lincoln are still looking for their first points but it means nothing at this present time. We've had them watched two or three times, they've changed their shape a couple of times so it will be interesting to see how they play on Saturday."

City have played 4-5-1 in both of their away games in the League and Cup so far this season, but the signing of Ben Hutchinson might change things and the Imps might end up playing with an anti-Suttonesque 4-4-2.

Hessenthaler continued "They may come and look to put that first point on the board or they may play openly and try and get a win. I think, probably, Chris Sutton will come and try and frustrate us and make it very difficult for us."
