Former Imp off to Huddersfield?

Former Lincoln defender Jamie McCombe is set to leave Bristol City after four years. He looks set to join Huddersfield Town, a club whom he conceded a penalty against back in 2004 to bring the Terriers back into a game they had been out of.

McCombe's transfer to Bristol City from the Imps was controversial from the start. McCombe had joined City from Scunthorpe (in another controversial transfer due to the nature of it) and part of his contract stipulated that if a club would pay City £5,000 then they would be able to talk to McCombe, with a transfer fee to be sorted at a later date.

McCombe has spent the four years since then winning promotion from League One and was 90 minutes from being in the Premiership, he also captained the men from Ashton Gate for a while.

He is now set to leave Bristol City after last season's departure of Gary Johnson, and is set to have talked with Huddersfield Town at some point today. McCombe is no stranger to the Terriers though. His younger brother John played for the Terriers and McCombe gave away the penalty that drew Huddersfield level in the Playoffs in 2003/4.
