It doesn't seem that long ago since the 2009/10 season ended, but we're already just two weeks away from finding out the fixture list for next season. The fixtures will be released 24 hours after the Carling Cup draw will be made and we will find out who we travel to first at 9am on Thursday 17th.
City haven't had a lot of luck on the opening day in recent years. The 1-0 win against Barnet last season was the first time City had won on the opening day in five seasons, that in itself was the first time since 1999. The Imps are often at home on the opening day of the season, having only been away from home in 2002/3, 2004/5 and 2008/9 since the turn of the millennium.
There are still no guarantees that the Imps will be in action on the opening weekend though. Stockport's future is still very much up in the air and much like the game against Rotherham two seasons ago, if we get Stockport then it could literally be a case of the game being confirmed mere hours before the game is due to kick off.
The fixtures will be released at 9am on Thursday 17th June, 24 hours after the Carling Cup draw.
