Simon Clark back in work

Simon Clark has been given his first chance at football management after being appointed the manager of Stamford. City's former caretaker manager unsuccessfully applied for the Lincoln job in September last year and has been working for Preston ever since.

Clark took over from Peter Jackson after the charasmatic Yorkshireman was sacked in September. Despite recording a fine 3-0 win over Darlington in his first game, Clark would lose the other four games before Chris Sutton was appointed. He left Sincil Bank soon afterwards and did some scouting for Preston North End.

He has now beaten off 11 other serious contenders for the manager's job at Stamford and his new coaching staff includes former Imp, Ben Sedgemore.

I liked Clarkey, had a good footballing head on his shoulders.. hopefully he'll do well with Sedge smiling smiley
