The Players of 2009/10 : Joe Anderson

Joe Anderson joined in January from Fulham and became the club's regular left back. Although he's a good force going forward on the wing, he looks quite prone in the defence. Although he could easily adapt to life in League Two and be a player of great potential, he'll have to do better next season.

Joe Anderson was the first proper left back this club has had since the days of Paul Mayo and Stuart Bimson. It does make a nice change have a left footer in that position for once and I find it no surprise that since we've put a person in that position who's used to it, that our defence became less leaky.

Anderson, who looks like a young (and slightly longer faced) version of Jamie Forrester, seemed to enjoy his first few months at Sincil Bank and he always shows he is highly capable of taking a decent set piece. Distribution is quite good as well when he has plenty of time.

However, it does worry me a bit that he does seem afraid to put in a tackle. There have been plenty of times where the attacker has pretty much just glided past him and go onto score, the second of Aldershot's in the penultimate game being the goal that jumps straight to mind.

I think he has potential but would need to bulk up a bit and learn how to tackle, that is unless Sutton does what Jackson did to Brown and put him in midfield.
