Lincoln City's run of defeats at Cheltenham continued after Julian Alsop scored the only goa of the game to give the Imps their first defeat since February. Despite some recent good performances, City failed to turn up at Whaddon Road, with the hosts creating considering more and better chances than the Imps.

Seeing as we beat Darlington earlier in the season, Cheltenham Town are now officially our bogie team. We haven't beaten Cheltenham either home or away since 2000, losing on every single visit to Whaddon Road in that time. The extent of the poor run goes as far as City being 2-1 up there with 3 minutes to go in March 2004, only to then lose 3-2.

In all fairness it was an even first half with the Imps having a goal disallowed and forcing Brown in the Robins' net into a few decent saves. Burch wasn't exactly busy at the other end, although Anderson had to clear an effort off of the line just before half time.

The deciding moment came just after half time when Low's shot was rebounded to Alsop and the lumpy striker had a tap in from about 8 yards to give Cheltenham the lead. From that point onwards it was a little pointless. City barely managed a shot on target for most of the rest of the half.

A lot of City fans might not actually be that fussed about the defeat as Cheltenham's win, coupled with a victory for Torquay now means that Grimsby are 7 points behind those teams with seven games to play.

I assume you are saying that some fans would be happy to see the Cods go down, well maybe they don't realise the financial loss of losing yet another local derby with the increasing likelihood of also losing Notts County at the other end, not forgetting that the none of likeliest replacements can be considered a local team. Looks like our attendances will be set to drop again next season, unless we hit the front early on.

I definately want the Cods to go down.

Our attendances suffer because of the tripe offered up at the moment. If we are sucsessful then the crowds will come back.

To be fair it is only Grimsby that turn out anyway as we certainly don't either at home or away.

Yes there may be a (small) financial loss to us if the Cods go down.
We've lost loads of local derbies over the last 6 or 7 seasons so another wont make much difference.
A successful team next season is what we need to increase our support/income.
The Cods can rot in Non League for years as far as i'm concerned!!

If we play like we did on Saturday we can only hope the Cods stay up so they can fill one of the two relegation spots next year, as we won't be climbing out of the high teens.
