Somma stays

By Slevin Morgan

Despite heavy speculation that Davide Somma would return to Leeds United following the completion of his loan deal, the South African is now confirmed as being with the Imps until the end of the season, much to the joy of Imps fans.

Somma joined the Imps in February and in scoring against Crewe, became the first man since Anthony Elding, ironically another former Leeds man, to score on his debut for the Imps. Although he didn't score at Rochdale, goals against Hereford and Crewe came before the weekend's brace at Torquay United.

The striker has been in blistering form since arriving at Sincil Bank and many felt that with Leeds stumbling towards the finish line in League One, that Somma would be recalled to give them a hand in their promotion push. It is also the biggest indication yet that Simon Grayson has little or no intention of playing Somma any time soon.

happy for you lot but he does as a 24 hr recall clause that we could use any time and now with beckford out injured that might be sooner then you think as things at elland road as taken a nose dive big time simon is now under pressure big time from fans.

Great news - Somewhat tainted by the 24 clause, but this guy is a player.

We manage to get him permantly and he would push us on, I have no doubt about that. Compare him with some of the players we have had and it shows you what a difference a golascorer will do for your team, no matter what level.

think simon will have him back at the end(of course thats if simons in charge still) simon most likely want to see if he can continue performing but like i said in my earlier post he does as a 24hr recall clause and until the summer he still the property of leeds united, so if he signs a contract come summer expect to fork out big bucks for him in the jan window thats if you still need him, be honest dont know why didnt recall him and loan you tres who just as good but our manager is set in his ways im afraid to say and he would never drop beckford and becchio even if the are appailing at times, we have a young american on our bench might have heard of him grella hes the future for leeds and simon knows it thats why he not playing cause he scared of vulture coming around, personally i would love to see grella and somma up front next season but we will have to see, anyway enjoy is company for now and good luck to you for the rest of the season

I personally find myself in a sticky situation. I've never had any loved lost for Leeds and if you'd have asked me a few weeks ago, I'd have said I would have laughed if Leeds didn't go up, however, I'm now finding myself wanting you guys to go up so we have more chance of getting Somma on a permanent deal.

Granted, he probably wouldn't join us permanently anyway, but you never know.

Delighted he's stopping for the time being at least.
I know he's out of contract in the summer but have also heard that Leeds have a potenial contract extension in place for him.
If you're in League 1 he'll stop with you, Championship I'm not so sure.
Think we cant under estimate Mr Sutton's powers of persuasion here either.

cheers for that if it wasnt for somma you would be fighting relegation show us some appreciation, afterall we could have so easily refused you his services to the end of the season with beckford injured but no we allowed you his services so instead of stab us in the back show some appreciation ffs

I'm very grateful believe me and really hope you go up.
I heard Beckford was only resting for the game at Norwich and should be ok?

Just a silly comment Fella, realx.

Still think you will go up, though Saturdays trip is a tough one, and Kisnorbo will be a loss.

He wasn't getting in your team though so I suppose we have helped you out too by getting him fit and into form for Leeds.

Good Luck with the rest of the season.

You were poor last night and I did fear the worst that we wouldn't see him here again as your strikers were clearly off the pace last night.
Grayson must feel that Somma isnt ready for League 1 just yet but I wouldn't be surprised if he is with you for the last few games.
Once again thankyou he has brightened up a rotten season for us and good luck with your promotion and I hope you go up.
I work with a couple of Leeds fans and they werent happy today.(Sm160)

problem with our manager is he relies to much on beckford when we have the talent on the bench he panicks and thats why he put a dwarf( dickov) up front against two towering centre backs, here what your saying though its not simon doesnt fell he ready for lg1 football its the fact he will never drop his to golden gooses even when the play shite, we have a fantastic usa lad mike grella we all rate him yet hes ignored it just proves our manger set in his ways and doesnt give a damn about lufc, hope he can get a load more goals for you though.

Yeah heard good things about Grella.
Sadly we have had a few managers who pick their favourites and wont pick anyone else.

wouldnt get ahead of yourself been reading articles on newsnow regarding somma and it seem your under the impression that sommas going to be a signed deal come the summer. if we dont go up this year and its looking very likely we wont then i would feel next year side will be somma and grella up front as i feel like you somma as a lot to offer and with grella up front as well i think we would score for fun in lg1. but who knows what the future holds your just very lucky becchio is not injured to the end of the season otherwise i feel simon would have been cashing in on that 24hr clause, just dont get a head of yourselfs dont forget bates is out for money and if he is sold at the end of the season then he wont be cheap

Dont think anyone from Lincoln thinks Somma will be a City player next season.. one we havent got the money & two, he's a lot better than league 2...

I don't think Leeds should be too confident he'll be there next season either.

He's basically said play me, or I'm off. The two year contract extension is a mutual one, therefore he can walk for free in the summer.

If he does leave Leeds, I doubt Lincoln will be top of the list anyway.

woah! sorry i didnt know i caused this much uproar! Sorry, was only a tongue in cheek comment, wasn't meant to rile you.

As I rarely get to Lincoln games anymore because of certain reasons... from what ive seen of bits of Somma he's pretty good and IMHO I doubt we will have him next season. As long as we get Herd permanently I will be happy!

and to the "Hes a Villa fan"... I really have nothing to joke about after the cricket score last saturday where I felt so ashamed to even be part of the football club!

and P.S. Should change my signature before anyone says anything!!
