Steff Wright pays tribute to Alexander

Steff Wright has paid tribute to Keith Alexander after the former Imps' boss' untimely death. Wright was Chairman during Keith's last year at Sincil Bank, a season which saw City struggle early on before eventually making the Playoffs.

Wright took over after the 2004/5 Playoff Final, in which City lost to Southend after extra time. A player exodus meant Keith Alexander had to rebuild the playing staff again, and it appeared not to be paying off as the Imps struggled to get out of lower-midtable early on in the season.

Literally hours before an away game at Mansfield on January 2nd 2006, Keith was placed on gardening leave in a saga that would eventually see Keith Roe, Ray Trew and Gary Simpson all leave the club in quick succession. Keith returned to work five days later but would leave at the end of the season.

"I'm absolutely numbed. To think everything Keith has done in football has gone is a massive shock. Keith was an absolute professional, a gentleman, but more than anything else Keith was a great guy," Wright told Radio Lincolnshire.

Although no official tribute has yet to be confirmed by the Imps website, such as a minute's silence/applause ahead of the game against Hereford next Friday, it is antipated that whatever the club chooses, will be a fitting tribute giving the outpouring by fans since Alexander's death.
