The club has been put into liquidation with what is being described as amn unsustainable debt believed to be around the £1.5m mark. The directors say they have no choice but to "throw in the towel" - will anybody step in to pick up the pieces?
The statement says: "We've had a great time with (chairman) Mike Yarlett's support but we know he hasn't got bottomless pockets," said Rotherham coach Mike Schmid.
"We just hope a new owner can come forward to keep the spirit alive and would like to appeal to any interested party to make themselves known so that rugby can continue to be played in Rotherham."
The biggest sympathy should go the lads who haven't been paid for the last month and whop were getting themselves in shape for a September 4 kick off.
