This week Rotherham take a break from the Zurich Premiership. On Sunday they entertain Newcastle Falcons in the Powergen Cup. It’s the 6th round of the Cup and the winners go on to the quarter-finals and then start to dream about the possibility of playing in front of a full house at headquarters. Rotherham will know their opponents only too well, having just taken a beating last week by the Falcons at Kingston Park. Newcastle scored seven try’s to one and it was the heaviest defeat of the season for far for the Premiership new boys. Rotherham will be hoping with home advantage that they can turn things around quickly.

Rotherham have made nine changes to the starting 15 that played last week. Jason Keyter back from his World Cup exploits comes in on the right wing for the injured Elliott. Young Strettle starts on the left wing and Phil Jones returns at inside centre. At fly-half this week Jason Strange is given a run out. An all new back row of Greef, Spence and Remnant get their opportunity to impress. And in the front row Bunting comes in at loosehead, while the inspirational Chris Johnson returns at hooker after a minor neck injury.

It promises to be another difficult task for Rotherham, but without the pressure of Premiership points at stake, maybe this could be their chance to relax and give their season the kick-start that it so badly needs.

Kick off is at 3pm
