Ingimarsson saves The Royals again!

A late equaliser from defender Ivar Ingimarsson earned Reading a draw after only minutes earlier Darren Bent had give Ipswich the lead.

MATCH REPORT

The Royals scored their first league goal of 2005 as an injury time equaliser from Ivar Ingimarsson earned The Royals a point at home to table topping Ipswich. The Tractor Boys looked likely to take all three points back home with them after Darren Bent scored a 90th minute goal but Reading went straight back up the other end to claim a draw.

Surprisingly Steve Coppell decided to drop Bobby Convey and instead start with Ricky Newman. Lloyd Owusu also started with Steve Sidwell suspended.

The first half was a tight encounter with Reading enjoying a large percentage the possession but yet again unable to create any real goal scoring opportunities. Though it was the away side who could have been in the lead after only a couple of minutes when a long range effort from Shefki Kuqi surprised Marcus Hahnemann but luckily for Reading's number one the shot hit the crossbar.

Steve Coppell's side had a number of shots none of which really troubled Kelvin Davis in the opposition goal. Ricky Newman, Andy Hughes and the best effort from Glen Little was straight at the Ipswich keeper all had efforts.

The second half saw Reading let of the hook as Ipswich hit the woodwork again and only the reflexes of Marcus Hahnemann kept Kuqi at bay.

Darren Bent was also unlucky with an effort which diverted off Hahnemann's arm for a corner. Andy Hughes should have done better but could only drag his shot wide when in a good position.

Though in the 90th minute a mistake from captain Graeme Murty allowed Darren Bent to score and which looked to have given Ipswich all three points.

There was more drama to follow. Straight from kick off, Reading went straight down the other end and a cross from Glen Little was finished by centre back Ivar Ingimarsson to send The Royals fans into raptures. Reading's Icelandic defender yet again scoring late on to save his team, as he did in the cup against Swansea City.
