Ricky Newman looks set to sign a new one year contract at Reading . The 33 year old had received interest from a few other clubs including Leyton Orient where former royal John Mackie now plays his trade. 

It will be a big boost to the Royals with such a thin squad and little transfer activity so far a player as versatile as Newman is likely to be an important part in Reading's push for promotion next term.
