Former Royals striker Jamie Cureton is a Division 1 player again after QPR won promotion with a 3-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday.But 6 other former Royals players will be fighting it out in the Playoffs with Bristol City and local rivals Swindon Town.

Former Reading goal scoring legend Jamie Cureton secured his 2nd promotion in 3 years as QPR won promotion to Division 1 this afternoon after a 3-1 win at Sheffield Wednesday. The striker came on as a 2nd half sub but didn't get on the score sheet. He now faces the likely prospect of playing Reading next season. Also promoted from that Division were Plymouth Argyle who secured the title 2 weeks ago.

But former Royals players Darren Caskey, Tony Rougier, Scott Murray, Adie Viveash, Sammy Igoe and Andy Gurney will be fighting it out in the Playoffs as their respective sides Bristol City and Swindon reached the 2nd Division playoffs. Bristol City face Hartlepool while Swindon face Steve Coppell's former employers Brighton and Hove Albion.

Other Royals players playing today were Shaka Hislop for Portsmouth against Leicester City and Matty Upson against Liverpool for his side Birmingham City. Both players were on the wrong ends as Pompey went down 3-1 while City were hammered 3-0 by Liverpool.

But on a nice note, Nathan Tyson scored a last minute equaliser for relegated Wycombe Wanderers as they held Peterborough at London Road.
