Birmingham City ended there injury ridden season with a 1-0 defeat to European hopefuls Bolton Wanderers, Birmingham who were relegated last week due to a 2-1 portsmouth win were just playing for pride...
Bolton started the game the better team, with Stelios Giannakopoulos creating 3-4 chances early on , his best delivery which fount its way to Davies whos header curled inches past the post. The blues first chance came to the former Yeading striker Dudley Campbell when he glanced past Ben Haim to cross it across the box, but Nicky Butt the Newcastle loane could not make contact with the ball.
Birmingham city were now on the front foot with countless chances but this just made that our strikers are crap more evident, Bolton came close after a Giannakopoulos` cross found Ivan Campo who headed over. On 63 minutes Maik Taylor made his first major involvement in the game from a Henrik Pederson shot from close range.
however on 65 minutes the blues were made to rue there misses when Ricardo Vaz Te a second half sub latched on to a Kevin Nolan cross to stab home. The rest of the major chances went to Bolton but failed to make them count as they missed out on a intertoto cup spot.
Melchiot has played his final game for the Blues...
