Leicester City expect to tie up the signing of Kilmarnock's wing-back Peter Canero early next week, having agreed a fee and personal terms with the Scottish Under-21 star.

The 23-year-old is expected to sign the final deal on Monday, with a fee of around £250,000 needed to secure his services on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

City boss Micky Adams said: "He's just 23 and my thoughts are we would try and get a couple of younger players into the squad for the benefit of the club in future years.

"We made him an offer, a decent offer, and he had a lot to think about.

"If he hadn't agreed then we would have moved on."

The Leicester City fans, and staff will be hoping that this youngster can help the side avoid relegation from the Premiership.
